Update on where we are at with the virus

Let me start this off by saying that I know this stinks! I hate it for our athletes, I hate it for their families, hate it for the community. While we cannot avoid these suspended games, I will do my best to keep you all informed on what is going on and what the steps are moving forward.

How long as we out? Right now its a minimum of two weeks, officially starting on Monday.

What does this do the games? We have currently canceled all the games leading up to that point and cannot begin to reschedule any of them until we can an idea about how long this will be. The region coaches and I are communicating and coming up with best case/ worst case scenario plans to be able to complete the region games and decide on how state playoff appearances will work. Again, we don’t know what the decision will be until we know how long we will be out. Any non region game will not be played at this point and this is the same thing that other schools are having to deal with as well. This would include the North Cobb DH and River Ridge game held at the end of spring break. My predication is that those dates will end up being Region game play dates.

Can we practice? No, neither myself nor my coaches can conduct practices during this time. The purpose of the hiatus in school and the games is to limit the exposure of the kids to other kids and the elements. This has been emphasized by the county athletic director and is a hard line and cannot be crossed.

What can you do? Be flexible and understand that as soon as we know what is going on we will relay the messages to you to keep you informed. Keep your child calm. Encourage them to work out at home, mechanics drills, towel drills, push ups, sit ups, dry swings, short hop drills…all of this can be done at home. Whatever we can do to get them off of their rear ends and moving. Continue to check the team app and school social media pages to get updates.

Again, I know this is not the best situation but we have to make due with what we got. I love this team and the guys on the team. My goal is to get these games made up so we can get them on the field again.

Thanks,
Coach Sutter
